The Sin Eaters Daughter by Melinda Salisbury

21936988

This is a story of Twylla who was destined to be a sin eater just like her mother until the Queen came and changed her life forever. A single touch from Twylla and you will die as her skin is poisonous to everyone except the royal family.

This story was much more fantasy based than I am used to reading and I assume that is the reason it took me a little longer than normal to get into the plot but I found the second half of the book much quicker than the beginning. The book itself is lovely to look at and the cover expresses the story really well. I love the girl in the glass bottle i think its stunning.

I found the characters a little young for their supposed age and the est of the story was quite complex so the scenes with Lief and Twylla let the book down a little for me. The romance between the two didn't feel real and their interactions were more of an annoying interruption to the story. I do wonder if this book would have benefited from having a duel perspective rather than us just reading from Twylla's POV because there were parts of the story that would have made more sense had we of heard about them before hand from another character.

I expected a sort of Shatter Me kind of story which i didn't get but the story was something interesting and a little different if not predictable at times. I thought the plot twists at the end were brilliant. They just kept coming at you until I was left not trusting anything or anyone.

I thought this was a pretty good book and definitely a fun interesting read so I would recommend it.

My Heart and other black holes by Jasmine Wanga

18336965

This is a story about 16 year old Aysel who is set out to end her own life. Aysel decides that she might not be brave enough to do it alone and so she goes in search of a partner, she finds that in Roman who goes by the name of FrozenRobot on the chatroom that they meet on and the suicide pact begins to take shape.

This isn't an easy read its pretty dark at times and also quite emotional.
The story is addictive and once you start you are captivated with the relationship between Aysel and Roman because its so unconventional and it isn't a story that we get to read very often it feels like you are reading a secret.

I found the story really similar to All the Bright Places which I did enjoy but I just wish there were a few things that were different but the book is enjoyable. I thought that the characters specifically Aysel and Roman were very realistic.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)

Sarah J Mass did it again with the second instalment of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I loved the first book in this series so much that A court of Mist and Fury was one of my most anticipated releases of 2016 but I was really worried that it would suffer from the dreaded second book syndrome because that would have ruined the whole thing for me but luckily this book was great maybe even better than the first book.

I loved the romance in this book because it was so different from in the first book. In the first book the romance was always there and it was one of the main focuses to the story, in this book the romance feels less fairy tale and more realistic. There is tension and flirting that grows throughout the plot until you are so invested in this relationship that it consumes your everyday life. I like a love story but it can get pretty boring when the relationship is the focus of a book but this story has so much to offer and the romance is so much more than a typical romance.

The new characters that are introduced in this book are pretty intense. Each and every one of the characters introduced are memorable and important to the plot so we have not wasted anytime getting to know a character that we just don't need.

Fayre is so much better in this book than in the previous one. She has gotten much stronger and I don't feel like she is going to burst into tears and cry every second of the book. Fayre is much more independent now than she was and she is discovering herself again after all of the huge changes she has had to go through.

I don't want to spoil anything but I love Rysand LOVE LOVE LOVE. He is the ultimate bad boy and who doesn't love a bad boy? Without giving to much away he is in this story much more than the previous one and his character development has been exceptional. He is full of surprises and has a lot more depth than I originally expected from him.

Maas has ensured that her readers come back for more next year by laving us full of wonder and anxiety regarding the amazing ending of A Court of Mist and Fury I am happy to announce that book 3 is the book I am most looking forward to in 2017.

Give this series a read you wont be dissapointed
