Catch You by M H Soars

28676477
Basically this is a school based romance between the nerdy girl and the hot jock boy but it has a fun mysterious twist.

17 year old Kimberley is having a pretty rubbishy day which is all toped off when Owen knocks into her and doesn't apologise. Kimberley is in such a shitty mood that she decides to get him back by tipping food on his head in the school dining hall. Owen obviously does not understand what he has done to make Kimmy kick off with him but he knows that this is the first time he has really noticed her and Owen thinks she is beautiful!.

Fate is not on Kimberley's side that day because later on her and Owen get partnered up for an English project. Kimberley decides that she will not fall victim to Owen's charms or his good looks.

Things get crazy from there and the pair end up in a desert in Las Vegas.

This Novella was a super speedy and fun read. I got through it all in one sitting and still had lots of time to do other things. It was really fun to read. Its easy to follow what is going on and thee are not too many characters to keep up with. It kind of reminded me of clueless but with a more grown up content.

This book would be the perfect book to get you out of a reading slump or even just to pass a few hours.

Creatures of the night tag

Its simple, you pick a character that matches the creature and explain why you chose them. SO lets get into it.

Vampire

Eric Northman from True Blood. In the first few books he is a bit mean and pretty heartless which is why I liked his character but as the series goes on and we get to read more about Eric in different situations he develops emotionally. Eric only ever does something if he wants to do it and never because its the right thing to do, He isn't scared of getting into trouble or getting hurt to stick up for something or someone he believes in.

Werewolf

Racking my brain I can only think of three Werewolf characters that I have ever read about. Luke and Maia from the mortal instruments and Lupin from Harry Potter. Its tricky to choose because I am currently reading the Mortal instruments so its fresh in my mind however because Lupin was the first he wins. Lupin showed us how he tried not to be taken over by the creature he became and managed to keep his humanity so he is pretty cool.

Zombie

Ok I am not sure if this counts but Melanie from The Girl with all the Gifts by M. R Carey because she doesn't even know what she is, she is just a kid. Its a great story and one of the only ones where I think I have read of the zombie aspect.

Ghost

Another category that I need to do more reading in but I sort of remember there being a ghost in Hex Hall but I don't remember anything about it so because of that I choose Moaning Mertle from Harry Potter. She is fun and she lives in a bathroom, what more can we want?

Witch/ Warlock or Spell Caster

For this I had lots of options so I am trying to avoid the Harry Potter crew at all costs and also because I have already mentioned the Mortal Instrument series I will not chose Magnus Bane. On that note I choose Nathan from Half Bad by Sally Green. He isn't quite up there with the best but he is trying his best and it gives us a less wandy take on magic.

Fairy or Fae

This was so easy I didn't even have to think for a second. Tamlin from A Court of Thorns and Roses takes this prize hands down. Think you know fairies then think again. I loved this twist on beauty and the beast and I loved Tamlin's Character I just hope the second book lives up to my expectations.

Angel

Patch from Hush Hush has so far been my favourite angel but to be honest the other angel books I have read have not been that great.

6339664

Alien

Melanie from Host. Not only is that one of my favourite books but Melanie's species are pretty evil but Melanie shows us humanity and sticking together is important. I felt that I could empathise with Melanie and it made the concept much more realistic. Love her!!.

Super Powered Human

Juliette from the Shatter Me series was my favourite super human. I loved this series and it is still one of my all time favourites!!

Fan - TAG - ulous

As the blog suggests this blog post is a tag post. So lets get straight into it.

1. Who is the most kick-ass character?

Over all it has to be Katniss Everdeen from the hunger games. I think it is fairly obvious why I think she is the most kick ass character. My second choice would be Aiden from the Covenant series by Jennifer L Armenrout because he is basically a ninja.

2. Which character do you most dislike?

Bella Swan from Twilight. She is a dull character. The absolute worst.

3. If you could date any fictional character who would it be?

I would date four from divergent. He is attractive, interesting and protective.

4. If you could change a character in any way, what would it be?

I would swap Alina Starvok from Shadow and Bone for Melanie from Host. I didn't really connect with Alina but I loved the story and I loved Melanie so I guess that would be the perfect match.

5. What character made all the wrong choices?

Tris from Divergent was an idiot in book two and three.

6. Who was the best villain that you loved to hate?

An oldie but a goodie, Bellatrix Lestrange from harry potter. She is only just on the right side of mad and there is no question that she is evil and that is why I love to hate her,

7. Who is your favourite sidekick?

Who else could I say other than Ron Weasley, except for maybe Hermione Granger? I mean seriously!!

8. What is your favourite romantic relationship in a book?

Mara Dyer and Noah. They are both different and they both help each other out but it isn't soppy love.

9. Who do you think is the strongest character?

Physically Aiden like I said before but mentally I think Gemma from Stolen by Lucy Christopher is amazingly strong.

10. Finally, who is your favourite all time character?

Alice from Alice in wonderland. She is a classic but every little girl loves her.

Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

7778981
An angel is sent to earth on a mission. But falling in love is not part of the plan.
The three angels that were sent down to earth on their special mission were Gabriel, Ivy and Bethany each with their own special skills but Bethany is the most human. They were sent to restore the good in a world that is falling under the bad influence of darker powers. It is imperative that they keep the fact that they are angels a secret from humans.
Bethany meets Xavier Woods and the attraction between them is too strong to ignore even though Gabriel and Ivy do everything they an to try and stop it.
Bethany was sent to Venus cove which is a lovely little town that doesn't really seem to need saving considering the grand scheme of things you would think that they would at least be in a city known for crime and homelessness but no Bethany has a beautiful house and the beach just a short walk away from her home. What was God thinking? Ivy volunteers and seems like the only one out of the trio that tries to do some good in the town, Gabriel teaches at the school where Bethany gets enrolled.
The story is set around Bethany's pathetic love for Xavier the school heart throb who was broken by the traumatic death of his then girlfriend Emily who died in a house fire. Eventually with maybe 150 pages to go the bad guy arrives and guess what!! he is hot stuff and brooding in a way that normally catches the main girls attention but no Bethany is pathetically in love with Xavier.
This book is pretty much Hush, Hush but worse! I actually liked Hush, Hush but Halo I just cant stand.
Xavier always seems to be looking after and bossing Bethany around. She needs him to help her complete the most simplistic of tasks such as eating and carrying a bag. It seems worrying to me that a relationship like this could be idolised by young girls. As it is the relationship that is the majority of the book it was this that I had the biggest problem with. Bethany is literally an angel but hardly blinks that she might be damned if she doesn't stop seeing Xavier, she just does it anyway! She is more obsessive than anything and when they have been apart for a page she misses him!! I wonder if Alexandra has ever experienced a real relationship herself because this is not only unrealistic but its not ideal!
I found all of the characters flat and they could have been plucked from any other paranormal romance book out there and I would have cared more about them than I cared for Bethany or Xavier and their devastating romance.
I do however wish Alexandra Adornetto luck in her next publishing as I believe she was young when she wrote this. Maybe she has now grown as a writer and gained herself more experiences.
