Logo Billionaire Review

Yesterday was Christmas and as a tradition at the night time we play board games in the evening. One of us usually gets a new board game as a gift and that is the game we play. This year it was Logo Billionaire.

I had seen this game advertised and if i'm honest i was not very excited about it.

We popped the box open and got going, like all new games it was complicated to begin with. Nobody really understood the rules and what we were supposed to be doing. The aim of the game is to create companies and earn a Billion (I think).

We muddled through and after a little while and a little wine we were beginning to enjoy ourselves.

In all I will not say that this is my favourite game it is no contest Monopoly wins every time but it could be more fun if you have a proper sit down with the rules.

Working on Christmas day

For those of you who like me are working on Christmas day or have worked Christmas day this year and are feeling a little bit glum about it, Cheer up.

For those of you who like me have had a strop and a paddy about having to be professional and wear anything other than pyjamas on this day that should be dedicated to getting drunk eating chocolate and stuffing our faces, Don't be sad.

To begin with i hated the idea that I had to work, I work in a hotel you see and we do not close EVER!! I did not want to read about how every one was enjoying themselves on facebook and how many presents everyone had because I was miserable. So far though my Christmas has actually turned out great, I got up early and opened my presents for my Fiance and my Mum and Dad ( Brothers included) . I opened the presents that my crazy family had got for my puppy. Had some Breakfast ( Crumpets - YUM) and set off to work.

Everybody is in the Christmas spirit and it has made working not so bad.

At 3 pm when I finish I will be heading over to My Fiancés parents to have dinner and open more presents. There will be food and games and surprises i'm sure.

I get to see my family on Boxing day to eat more food, play more games and give them their presents ( which i love doing just as much receiving gifts).

I guess the moral of my little post is to make the most out of a bad situation, Having to work has made the time i am at home more special.

for those of you that do not have to work today MERRY CHRISTMAS

and those of us that do MERRY CHRISTMAS WEEK :)

Book Writing

I would love to be crafty like many of the other bloggers but i was gifted with musical talent instead.

I am however gifted with a great imagination ( I am just not very good at putting a plan into action) so long story short.....

I am thinking of taking up writing. I wanted to write for fun. I was kind of inspired by the series i am reading at the moment by Addison Moore.
it made me feel like i could do this too.

So what i am wondering is if any of you guys write? Any tips?

Things that scare me when I am by myself at night time!

So last night Jon (my fiancé) was working nights and it was my first night in our new flat. We are still moving things over from our old flat and so we do not have the television on the wall. I do not usually watch a lot of television especially in the evening so I did not turn it on and here is what I realised......

I am a huge wimp!!!

Here is a list of everything that scared me.

* shadows
* that it was too quiet
* there were unusual noises
* lots of corners that bad men could hide behind
* Noises I made myself
*my phone ringing

Obviously I was a very nervous person last night but I don't know how I would cope if something actually scary happened!

What scares you at night time?

Manchester

This weekend me, my fiancé and our best friends took a trip to Manchester. We went to see the market which was very festive but extremely busy, we were literally walking around like sardines.

I met up with my Nana, Auntie and Cousin. We found out that my cousin is having a baby!!!!! so very exciting. we had a lovely lunch and did a lot of catching up as since i moved down south i don't see my family as much any more.

I think that Manchester is the best place to do Christmas shopping and catch up with friends.

We ate dinner at a very funky TGI Fridays and ended the night in club AXM which is an amazing place to be cheesy!!

Roller skating disaster

Me and a friend have been looking at fun ways to work out without having to go to the gym. She came up with the idea of roller skating at a roller disco.

Now to be honest I wasn't very excited as I'm not very good at ice skating and I imagined it would be much of the same.

We arrived at the venue and bought our tickets, swapped my comfy converse for some not so comfy blue roller skates. The hall was set out like a school disco everyone was sat around the edges so I got up.

Slowly I started to skate around the ring. About halfway around I lost control and fell to the ground. I landed straight on my tail bone owch. I got up and carried on with both my bottom and my ego bruised.

After the incident I continued skating And had lots of fun I would recommend it to anyone wanting a fun way keep fit..

National Cashew Day

So today is national Cashew day!!
(how very exciting!)

The Cashew is originally from Brazil but now is loved around the world. To honour this very special day I thought I would share a recipe that includes cashews.

Banana and Cashew cream Pie

  • Crust:
  • 1 cup chopped unsalted macadamia or cashew nuts
  • 1/2 cup flaked unsweetened coconut
  • 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • .
  • Custard Filling:
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 5 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • .
  • 1/2 cup heavy or whipping cream
  • 2 bananas
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped macadamia or cashew nuts

Preparation:

Prehat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Prepare the crust: Combine the
macadamia nuts, coconut, and brown sugar in a medium-size bowl. Beat the egg white until stiff, and gently fold it into the nut mixture.

Press the mixture evenly into an 8-inch pie plate, making sure the sides are thickish (the crust will shrink while baking). Bake until the crust is lightly browned, 7 minutes.

Remove the pie plate from the oven and let it cool on a rack. (The crust will tighten as it cools.)

Prepare the custard: Beat the egg yolks in a heavy medium-size saucepan. Add the cornstarch and sugar, and mix well. Then stir in the milk, salt, and butter.

Cook the egg mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it is bubbling and thick, 5 to 7 minutes.

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the
vanilla. Transfer the mixture to a glass bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours.

Whip the cream with an electric mixer until it forms stiff peaks. Fold the whipped cream into the chilled custard.

Peel and slice 1 of the
bananas, and arrange it evenly on the bottom of the reserved crust. Spoon the filling into the crust, cover with plastic wrap, and chill for another 2 hours.

When you are ready to serve the pie, sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the top. Then peel and slice the remaining banana, and arrange the slices in a circle on top of the pie, with a few slices placed decoratively in the center. Serve immediately.

Yield: 6 to 8 servings

LONGLEAT

Earlier this year (July to be precise) I went to Longleat safari park. Visiting longleat has been on my to do list since I moved to the south west 7 years ago. My fiancé (Jon) took me and some friends to longleat for a birthday treat and I was very excited. It was however a very hot day and so the animals were not quite as excited as i was :(

we started the day quite early and the drive there was lovely, Longleat have beautiful grounds so if your not into animals it is defiantly still worth a visit just to see the house and lovely gardens.
( The lovely view driving into longleat)

The first thing we went to see was the giraffes. I thought I would be quite scared of them as I am generally afraid of large animals but they were so gentle and cheeky that I was fine. there was a baby giraffe there who kept coming up and getting visitors into trouble for stroking him. I was amazed at how big their eyes are and how long their lashes are absolutely beautiful.
There were other animals around this area such as small monkeys and tortoises. there were funny looking birds that I think are partridges, they were walking around in little groups and looked so funny I think they were one of my favourite things all day ( how sad )

The safari has lots of different animals along the route. After giraffes there were Zebras ( which are pony size rather than horse size - I didn't know this!!), flamingos and tapirs. you then enter a sort of reserve ( I think its the game reserve but I may be wrong) there were some deer but not many. Rhinos who were bathing themselves in mud - very amusing and camels. The Camels were the best part of this section as they were messing about, they were rubbing their humps on and in peoples car and sometimes attempting to sit on the bonnets - very very funny.

we skipped the monkeys as we had heard how naughty they are. Longleat have attached the bits of cars that the cheeky monkeys have managed to pull off to the sign before you enter. it looks like a car cemetery. we went straight on to feed the deer. as it was only July we got to see some very young deer that looked just like Bambi and it was very cute however it was the adults that came to feed. you are only allowed to feed the deer with the food provided ( it cost around £1 per cup) it was the best experience of the day!! the deer get right up in your car and they take the food right from your hand. their lips are so soft and they will even let you have a photo or a little stroke as long as you still have food in your hand. the trouble is getting their heads out of the car when they are done. Watch out for the antlers.

the rest of the safari section is filled with more dangerous animals such as Elephants, Tigers and wolves. unfortunately it was so hot that all of these animals were sleeping :(

In all I had a great day there and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a day out

Awake at sleep time :/

Hi all
So I'm lay here now at 3am in my nice warm bed wondering why I cannot sleep. It always seems to be the times that I have to be up early that I have trouble sleeping and believe me when I say I do not have trouble staying asleep in the mornings.

Here's my problem my fiancé is marching tomorrow for Remembrance Sunday as he does every year and I have promised I will show my support by standing out in the cold for 2 and a half hours. It will almost certainly rain and now thanks to my lack of sleep I will certainly be grumpy. This year is the first year that my little bro has taken part (he joined boys brigade) my little brother will be marching and so I really should try to be my best.

I have tried counting sheep -fail
I tried reading a book - fail (my book was too gripping)
I have tried lying with my eyes closed -fail
So I thought a little rant might release some energy and help me drift off :/ worth a shot

Anyway good night all

Celestra book series review by Addison Moore

Hi so a month or so ago I finished whatever book it was I reading and went onto my amazon looking for something else for my kindle. I have quite a mixed taste in books but it has to have something interesting about it to make me want to read it. Amazon suggested Ethereal by Addison Moore based on my previous purchases and it was free so I thought why not lets give it ago.

I'm going to try and not give too much away about the series in case anyone wants to read it but just give my opinion.

so the first book looks like this:

The cover didn't really excite me, it simple and doesn't really tell you anything about the story at all but because I read most books on my kindle it doesn't really matter about the cover once the purchase has been made. I imagine that in paper form the book wouldn't be very big.

the series is about a young girl named Skyla Messenger who moved to an island when her dad died in an accident. She has a secret that links her with two boys Gage and Logan who are brothers.

from the outset I wasn't very interested in this book, most young adult books make for easy enjoyable reading but I thought this book started off quite childish. that said I am now an addict!!!!

there is a special love triangle in the first book that kept me wondering who she would choose which only got better as the series has gone on. the concept behind the book is something I have not read much on and so that is also very interesting. Addison Moore has used a great amount of imagination to write this book which has love, action, death and a who lot of magical happenings.

There are moments that I get a little bit bored reading about Skyla's life but as soon as this happens something exciting happens and grasps my interest. I am now on the 4th book of the series and I think I will end up reading the whole lot and possibly more by Addison Moore.

If anyone else has read these books let me know what you think. or if there is any other books you suggest let me know that too.

Canon SX160

Today I have treated myself to a new compact camera. I chose the Canon SX160 IS for no particular reason other than I liked the size and weight of the camera. It came boxed like this:
The set up was really easy, it has lots of different options and a lovely little flash.
The camera has a 16x zoom and it manages to focus really easily.

I love it
